Pirate Weekend at Miami Seaquarium
Where: Miami Seaquarium
When:Saturday, July 2 – Monday, July 4, 2011
The first 150 children each day will receive a swashbuckling gift and those sporting their favorite pirate garb will pay only $10 plus tax for admission with a paid adult. Those who complete Davy Jones’ treasure hunt are in for an especially sweet treat. The park also will feature guest appearances by Salty, its resident pirate, before the exhilarating pirate high wire show.
Pirates Weekend is a part of the “Swashbuckling Summer” program. Running all summer long, the program features exciting daily high wire acts by the pillaging “Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean,” a Giant Water Slide that is over 25 feet tall and a Pirate Skeleton Walk with friendly pirates that are guaranteed to put a smile on kid’s faces. Guests should also prepare to hit the deck as Pirates take over the Top Deck Dolphin Show.

Disney’s Mulan @ Miami Children’s Theater

Broadway Bound is hard at work on Mulan. The show, directed by Christine Vega and choreographed by Tara Plyler, is going to be beautiful, lyrical and thoroughly entertaining. Mulan will be performed three times for the public July, 8 and 9th. To purchase tickets click here

Workout with Little Gym. Miami International Mall continues to entertain shoppers with summer happenings each Friday throughout July and mid-August. During Friday Family Fun Nights, families will enjoy live performances from area organizations and participate in fun, interactive activities.

“SAFE SUMMER” AT MIAMI INTERNATIONAL MALL

A fun and free educational day awaits kids of all ages at Miami International Mall, as the Simon Kidgits Club hosts a “Safe Summer” event. Fun for the whole family, the “Safe Summer” event will help parents teach their children to play it safe by featuring safety demonstrations and allowing kids the opportunity to interact with the City of Doral Police Department. Participants will also enjoy a special appearance by the Love Bird, mascot of the soon-to-be-opened Arturo’s Restaurant inside the mall. There will be fun, summer giveaways including visors and sand bucket sets.

The Falls, one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the United States, is inviting South Florida families to invade the high seas at The Falls during a wild “Pirate Adventure,” a Simon Kidgits Club pirate-themed event, on Saturday, July 9.  During this special event, a pirate magician will astound the crowd with a jaw-dropping magic show.  The Falls will treat all pirates-in-training to their own pirate booty bag, complete with loads of free loot, including pirate swords, eye-patches, coin necklaces, buckaneer bandanas and rings, while supplies last.
“Pirate Adventure” is one of several programs and events held throughout the year at The Falls for members of the Simon Kidgits Club, which focuses on health, wellness, education, safety and entertainment for children.

Mango Festival
Where: Fairchild Gardens
When: Saturday, July 9, 2011 – Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Fairchild’s 19th Annual International Mango Festival will celebrate the Mangos of Hawaii. Visit the festival to shop Curator Choice mango trees and fresh fruit, enjoy mango lectures and smoothies, view the world’s largest display of mangos, take part in the world’s only mango auction and buy mango merchandise and botanical art. There will also be mango culinary demonstrations, our one of a kind mango brunch, a fantastic International Fruit Market and fun activities for kids.
It’s all about mangos at Fairchild’s International Mango Festival.

WPBT2/Kidvision, in association with JetBlue, PBS Kids and Broward County Library System, will host an intimate story time event to help keep children reading throughout the summer. Attendees will enjoy a reading by a local author, a performance by PBS Kids host, Mr. Steve and appearances by PBS Kids characters, Hooper and Super Why. The event is free and open to the public. The event is part of the Soar with Reading program, a free literacy program launched by PBS Kids and JetBlue to keep children reading and beat the summer learning slide.
